Vegetarianism and Veganism
Research indicates that diets without animal foods can help prevent certain cancers, heart disease and obesity. Whether it is from increased natural foods, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats or the elimination of animal foods is unclear. Education is essential as eliminating a food group can put people at risk for nutritional inadequacies. A vegetarian or vegan diet can increase the risk of anaemia, osteoporosis and irreversible nerve damage if not practiced with knowledge and planning.
